O-Rings and Gaskets
An O-ring is a mechanical gasket in a torus shape (as in a tire tube) with a round cross-section that has been designed to seat in a grove on a surface that corresponds to a similar grove on the surface that it is being mated to. During the assembly process, the O-ring is compressed in between the groves of the two surfaces to provide a perfect seal between them. O-Rings are gaskets that are specifically designed for very high-pressure applications such as hydraulics. Standard gaskets are used to maintain a seal between two flat surfaces.
O-rings of various sizes and specification are widely available from distributors across the country. As a result, Jefferson Rubber Works Inc. only caters for production of non-standard and specialized O-rings and gaskets on a customized order basis. Where required, professional staff can assist in the design, material selection, and manufacturing process to meet client specifications. O-rings may be produced by an extrusion process, injection molding, compression molding or transfer molding in most of the elastomer materials available.
