Custom Rubber Bellows

Custom molded rubber bellows are used to capture contaminants, absorb mechanical movement and vibration, and compensate for thermal expansion in order to maintain seal integrity. These flexible, accordion-style components can be molded from natural rubber, EPDM, silicone, and other durable elastomers that can withstand repeated stress and environmental changes.

In protective systems, custom rubber bellows shield pneumatic or hydraulic components in medical, automotive, HVAC, and other industrial applications from the following:

  • Chemicals.
  • Dust.
  • Moisture.
  • Oils.
  • Ultraviolet (UV) exposure.

At Jefferson Rubber Works, we manufacture custom rubber bellows in a range of sizes, materials, and designs, including straight, convoluted, or U-shaped geometries.

Custom Rubber Grommets

Rubber grommets provide vibration isolation and abrasion protection where cables, wires, or tubing pass near the edges of panels, channels, or other wear points. They enhance electrical insulation and help safeguard against damage from floor flex and sharp cutouts. Common examples include grommets used in control panels, medical equipment, and electronic devices.

Grommets are manufactured to your specifications from materials including, but not limited to:

  • Buna-N.
  • EPDM.
  • Neoprene.
  • Silicone.
  • Viton®.

Depending on the details of the application, we can assist with selecting the most suitable material for the specified temperature, chemical, and environmental requirements.

Custom Expansion Joints

Custom rubber expansion joints help to minimize vibration, thermal expansion, and movement in duct and piping systems. They are flexible connectors commonly made with the following elastomers:

  • Buna-N.
  • EPDM.
  • Fluorosilicone (FVMQ).
  • Silicone.
  • Viton®.

Rubber expansion joints often incorporate woven fabrics and customized lines, arches, or flanges to fully integrate with the shape, material, and operating conditions of the application. We use advanced compound technology to mold joints that effectively absorb lateral, angular, and axial displacement and guard against chemical exposure, pressure changes, and temperature variation.

Our molding technology supports wrapped or extruded constructions, as well as small-batch molded joints. All custom expansion joints are made to customer specifications from high-quality materials to minimize failure rates and deliver a long service life.

Precision EMI/RFI Shielding Gaskets and Seals

EMI/RFI shielding gaskets and seals are used to block electromagnetic interference (EMI) and radio frequency interference (RFI), protecting sensitive electronics and signal transmission, and ensuring mission-critical equipment functions correctly.

These high-quality precision EMI/RFI shielding gaskets and seals are constructed from the following materials:

  • Fluorosilicone (FVMQ).
  • Silicone.
  • Rubber compounds infused with metal fillers (nickel, copper, or silver).

Conductive elastomer or fabric-over-foam formulations are designed to achieve the specific sealing and compression characteristics needed for different housings and enclosure designs and operating conditions. Proper material selection and the precision fit of gaskets ensures both environmental protection and reliable electrical current in cable feeds and enclosure seams. This is essential in medical devices, such as imaging systems, monitors, and diagnostic equipment.

Jefferson Rubber Works offers a comprehensive selection of high-quality, precision EMI/RFI shielding gaskets and seals to meet the unique demands of many industries and applications. Our products can be waterjet cut, die-cut, or compression molded according to client specifications to achieve the desired functionality and performance.

Rubber Hoses and Ducting

Rubber hoses and ducting are flexible conduits for gases and liquids used in challenging environments. Depending on the required resistance to chemicals, abrasion, or temperature, the following materials are commonly used for hoses and ducting:

  • EPDM.
  • Neoprene.
  • Nitrile.
  • Silicone.

Standard rubber hoses made from EPDM, neoprene, and nitrile offer different resistance profiles for UV exposure, ozone, oils, or pressure, while silicone hoses offer excellent performance in extreme temperature ranges.

At Jefferson Rubber Works, we can engineer custom rubber hoses and ducting to meet the specific temperature exposures, fluid types, and pressure ratings, ensuring long-term reliability in industrial, medical, and OEM systems.

Specialized O-Rings and Gaskets

Jefferson Rubber Works is a trusted manufacturer of specialized and non-standard O-rings and gaskets for equipment like pumps, medical devices, and industrial equipment, produced using the following methods:

  • Compression molding.
  • Extrusion process.
  • Injection molding.
  • Transfer molding.

Custom O-rings and gaskets are used in applications and equipment where standard seals may not provide the necessary sealing capabilities. We manufacture specialized O-rings and gaskets with USP Class VI-grade or FDA-compliant compounds, typically from EPDM, silicone, nitrile, or FVMQ materials. This helps ensure they are compatible fluids and extreme temperatures, and that they meet regulatory requirements.
